Lauren VanSickle also known as Just Lo on Instagram is an up and coming Calgary blogger. With her sophisticated neutral looks she puts together outfits with class.
Q: Where were you raised/currently live?
A: I currently live in Calgary where I was born and raised. I also spent some time going to school in Montreal and Sydney, Australia, both of which I loved.
Q: What made you want to become involved in fashion?
A: I’ve always loved fashion and knew I wanted to be involved; it was more a matter of figuring out how to be involved in a way that worked for me. I started following my first fashion blogs in high school, Fashion Toast and Sea of Shoes. It wasn’t until I saw a series on blogging tips by Brittany Xavier from Thrifts and Threads that I realized blogging was something I could do and the perfect way for me to share my love of fashion with others.
Q: What is your educational background?
A: I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary. A lot of people don’t realize just how much overlap there is between psychology and fashion.
Q: What are your top 3 go to winter items?
A: I love a good knit sweater so I think that would have to be my number one winter item. A coat that is just as functional as it is stylish is also essential and a great pair of black ankle boots.
Q: Who are your favourite designers?
A: Alexander Wang, Givenchy and Celine.
Q: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
A: I would love to grow my blog into something that I could do full time.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would have to say minimal, classic pieces with a modern twist and a heavy emphasis on neutrals.
Q: Where are some of your favourite places to shop?
A: For clothing I like Zara, Aritzia, and Holt Renfrew. As for accessories I love The Livery Shop, which stocks some amazing local brands, QUINSCO, and Kara Yoo, both of which have great online stores.
Q: Do you have anything you want your viewers to know about you?
A: Just that my main goal for my blog is to be a resource for other people, whether that’s inspiring them to try a new trend or find a new great place for brunch.
